Francis Musoni
DSSN Founder
Francis Musoni was born and raised in Buhera District, one of the least developed regions of Zimbabwe. Growing up, he lacked access to basic resources such as electricity, running water, and well-equipped schools—challenges that limited opportunities for many children in his community.
When he later moved to the capital to attend university, he was often labeled an “SRB,” or someone with a Strong Rural Background. While the term was often used dismissively, he embraced the identity as a source of strength and purpose.
Today, Dr. Musoni is an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky, where he has spent over 15 years teaching, mentoring, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
He founded DSSN to give back to the community that shaped him and to serve low-income families in Kentucky, which he now calls home. He is driven by a simple but powerful belief: no one’s potential should be limited by where they are born or the resources available to them.
